How to select the appropriate hydraulic tamper model according to project requirements
Here is a simple guide to selecting the appropriate hydraulic compactor model based on project requirements:

1. Choose by Project Scale
Small-scale projects (e.g., indoor backfilling, rural roads):
Select medium-to-small models with a tamper energy of 5–20 kJ. These are lightweight (compatible with small excavators/loaders) and suitable for shallow compaction (0.5–3 meters).
Large-scale projects (e.g., highways, airport foundations):
Opt for large models with a tamper energy of 20–50 kJ or higher, capable of deep reinforcement (over 3 meters). They require matching with large equipment (e.g., excavators over 20 tons).
2. Choose by Soil Type
Sandy/loose soil:
Select high-frequency, low-energy models (tamper frequency: 10–15 times/minute) to avoid soil liquefaction. Prioritize models with anti-splash tamper plates.
Clay/hard soil:
Choose low-frequency, high-energy models (frequency: 5–8 times/minute; energy ≥20 kJ) to break up soil clumps and achieve deep compaction via strong impact force.
Backfill soil (with gravel):
Select models with wear-resistant tamper plates (e.g., /manganese steel) and higher energy (≥25 kJ) to crush debris and ensure compaction.
3. Choose by Construction Environment
Tight spaces (indoors, tunnels):
Select compact, rotatable/deflectable models (e.g., tamper plates that can rotate 90°) for flexible operation.
Slopes/complex terrain:
Choose models with angle adjustment functions (e.g., supporting ±15° tilt) to ensure stability and prevent tipping.
4. Choose by Equipment Compatibility
Ensure the hydraulic tamper matches the hydraulic system of your existing equipment (excavator/loader):
Oil pressure: Match the equipment’s output pressure (typically 16–35 MPa).
Flow rate: Small tampers require 30–80 L/min; large tampers need 80–150 L/min or higher.
Connection type: Use quick-change couplers or bolt-fixed interfaces for easy installation.
Summary:
Small projects + soft soil → Medium-to-small energy + high frequency;
Large projects + hard soil/gravel → High energy + wear resistance;
Restricted spaces → Flexible, adjustable models;
Prioritize hydraulic pressure/flow compatibility with your equipment.
Selecting based on these needs will ensure efficient compaction!
